Report on Teachers in-service program
The need for in-service education of teachers cannot be underestimated. The administration of La Salle High School and College, Faisalabad during July 25 to 29, 2022 organized Teachers in-service program. Four eminent resource persons from different institution shared their knowledge and experience, 100 participants from the institution successfully completed the program. The session wise summary is given below.
Day 1: Dated on: 25-07-2022
The inaugural session was started at 9.30 AM by welcoming address of the principal Rev. Br. Shahid Mughal. The principal has emphasized on the need for in-service education/training of teachers. He said that it is a necessity in enhancing work performance and motivation of teachers in the field. He shared that In-service program is designed for the development of the teachers and the educational enterprise as a whole. If teachers are to perform their functions effectively and efficiently, it becomes imperative for them to require training in new skills and modern methodology. Further he added the higher the level of educational attainment by teachers, the higher the level of educational standard in the institution.
For the very 1st day session on ‘21st century teaching and learning skills’ he invited MS. Fozia Ali Banawaz (MS Chemistry, Ex-Lecturer, Bahria Foundation College, Karachi ). She has covered two successive sessions on the topics modern teaching and learning skills for teachers. She introduced an emerging idea of the 6C for the improvement of teaching and learning.
Day 2: Dated on: 26-07-2022
The 2nd day has started from 9.30 AM. The day has begun with felicitation to the resource person, Dr. Abdul Hafeez (Ph.D. Physics, Senior Subject Specialist and Lead Trainer- QAED, Faisalabad.) The resource person has delivered a talk on ‘Assessment Techniques ’. The lecture was comprehensive, informative, analytical and valuable.
Day 3: Dated on: 27-07-2022
The 3rd day was started at 9.30 am. The invited resource person, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Tahir (Ph.D. –Zoology, Ex. Controller Examination Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education. Faisalabad and Multan). He delivered a talk on ‘Examination and Tests’ which proved to be a very informative, valuable for entire teaching carrier. He shared the session in a very interesting way. After the tea-break, the next session resumed with a talk on ‘Paper Setting’. The session was very interactive.
Day 4: Dated on: 28-07-2022
The day started with the session on ‘Parenting on 21st century’ which was delivered again by Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Tahir. The discussion was quite informative, analytical and valuable. He said that the sign of great parenting is not the Child’s Behavior but the Parents Behavior. The session was very comprehensive and hence, highly appreciated by the participants.
Day 5: Dated on: 29-07-2022
On the closing day, the session has shared by the honorable invited resource person Dr. Asif Zia Bajwa (MBBS, MS Psychology, and An Alumni) delivered a talk on ‘mental health problems in children and adolescence’. He emphasized on how to deal with the students having mental health issues. He said that mental health awareness is an important conversation few schools have with their students. He said that introducing the right resources can make a huge difference. It will be helpful for teachers to recognize and contend with mental health problems among the children and youth whom they teach. The session was very interesting and informative.
